816 Congress Fiber Optic Globes

This was our first fiber optic art installation. This project was a unique learning experience for us and a refreshing departure from our typical custom builds.

For this installation, Ion Art produced 125 fixtures featuring hand-blown glass globes. To meet the client's request for a subtle transition, we programmed the globes to slowly shift from 2700K to 6500K and back over a 40-minute loop. We completed most of the assembly in the field. The finished glass globes now illuminate the flower beds in the Fern Garden at the 816 Congress building throughout the new courtyard.

We thoroughly enjoyed creating these fixtures and planning their installation.
