Fontaine Plaza

Design: Studio dwg.

Client: Red Leaf Properties & ACC District

Installed on the Highland campus of Austin Community College (home of the Riverbats) these light poles are programmed to light up in a pattern that imitates bats in flight. We were contacted by dwg. to create this unique lighting display for the Highland Mall Redevelopment project. This development not only includes a new college campus for ACC, but also residential and retail components that are mixed with new parks and trails.
Fontaine Plaza, which is the space where the light poles are installed, serves as the entry gateway for the new development surrounding Highland ACC. The park landscape design was recognized during the 2021 Texas ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) Design Awards program. dwg. received the award for designing a gateway park that is a prime example of “parking lots to parks” while reinforcing the importance of open spaces in these times of social distancing. We're proud to have participated in one facet of the park's success!
