We have been lucky enough to do multiple projects for HEB Grocery Stores over the years. With locations in Houston, San Antonio, and Lakeline to name a few.
One of our favorite projects for HEB was for their new Wimberley location. In 2014 HEB's Design Team brought a unique request to Ion Art: to collaborate with HEB's designers to incorporate items from Bowen Intermediate School for use in the signage in the soon-to-be-built HEB in Wimberley on the site that once housed Bowen Intermediate School. Items used within the store signage: school bleachers for the chef's hat at the Cooking Connection; the jungle gym was repurposed into an outdoor seating area and incorporates art from Wimberley ISD students reproduced on iZone material and wrap the jungle gym; the scoreboard from the gym was repurposed for use in the produce department to showcase the number of organic produce items HEB has vs. their competition; and some of the wood doors from the school were repurposed and used for the cow, chicken, and tomato shapes on the We Believe Wall at the store entrance. Ion Art enjoyed bringing HEB's design team's images to life -- the final results wowed the community and the thoughtful incorporation of items from the school and the signage's representation of the artistic, welcoming heart of Wimberley.
