Playboy Bunny

Commissioned by Playboy Enterprises, in collaboration with artist Richard Phillips, and Creative Director of Special Projects, Neville Wakefield. Ion Art engineered, built, and installed this project in Marfa, Texas, in 2013. Originally an homage to 1970’s American culture, this piece quickly sparked controversy with the Marfa locals who debated on whether this was an advertisement, art, or pornographic image. After the Texas Department of Transportation requested the removal of the 40-foot-tall bunny, the sculpture was moved to Dallas Contemporary, where it was on display from 2014-2017. Is now residing permanently in the Design District.
